App Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 4, 2026
Disclaimer & Privacy Policy
Steckmann Inc. ("us", "we", or "our") operates the website www.oaysis.app and the Oaysis: Bible Verses By Topic (and localized versions) mobile application (the "Service"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data. We use your data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions.
Definitions
Service: Service means the website www.oaysis.app and the Oaysis: Bible Verses By Topic (and localized versions) mobile application operated by us.
Personal Data: Personal Data means data about a living individual who can be identified from those data (or from those and other information either in our possession or likely to come into our possession).
Usage Data: Usage Data is data collected automatically either generated by the use of the Service or from the Service infrastructure itself (for example, the duration of a page visit).
Cookies: Cookies are small pieces of data stored on your device (computer or mobile device).
Data Controller: Data Controller means the natural or legal person who (either alone or jointly or in common with other persons) determines the purposes for which and the manner in which any personal information are, or are to be, processed. For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, we are a Data Controller of your Personal Data.
Data Processors (or Service Providers): Data Processor (or Service Provider) means any natural or legal person who processes the data on behalf of the Data Controller. We may use the services of various Service Providers in order to process your data more effectively.
Data Subject (or User): Data Subject is any living individual who is using our Service and is the subject of Personal Data.
Information Collection and Use
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you.
Types of Data Collected
Personal Data: While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you ("Personal Data"). Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to: your email address, your display name, Cookies and Usage Data.
Usage Data: We may also collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Service or when you access the Service by or through a mobile device ("Usage Data"). This Usage Data may include information such as your computer's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data. When you access the Service by or through a mobile device, this Usage Data may include information such as the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device unique ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browser you use, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.
Location Data: The app does not request or use GPS, and has no location permission. We estimate your approximate location — city and region — from your IP address, as described under "Analytics and usage data" below.
Tracking Cookies Data: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our Service and hold certain information. Cookies are files with small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a website and stored on your device. Tracking technologies also used are beacons, tags, and scripts to collect and track information and to improve and analyze our Service. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our Service.
Examples of Cookies we use:
Session Cookies. We use Session Cookies to operate our Service.
Preference Cookies. We use Preference Cookies to remember your preferences and various settings.
Security Cookies. We use Security Cookies for security purposes.
Advertising Cookies. Advertising Cookies are used to serve you with advertisements that may be relevant to you and your interests.
Analytics and usage data
We use two services to understand how the app is used, so we can see which parts are useful and where people run into difficulty:
PostHog — detailed product analytics and session recordings. PostHog processes this information on our behalf and does not use it for its own purposes.
Google Analytics for Firebase — overall usage and audience reporting. Google provides this service to us under Firebase's data processing terms. Google may also use some of this information to maintain and improve its own services, as described in Google's privacy policy.
What we collect:
The screens you open and the actions you take in the app — for example opening a topic, saving or sharing a verse, or changing the Bible version.
Your approximate location — city and region, estimated from your IP address. We do not request or use GPS, and the app has no location permission.
Your device model, operating system, language and network type.
The app version and build number.
An identifier that lets us recognise the same installation across sessions. On Android, Google Analytics for Firebase may also use your device's advertising identifier. You can reset or limit that identifier at any time in your device settings.
Session recordings. We record app sessions in PostHog so we can see where people get stuck. All text is hidden in these recordings — we cannot read verse text, anything you type, or your email address in them. Google Analytics for Firebase does not record sessions.
If you have an account. Your email address and display name are attached to your PostHog analytics profile, so we can understand how the app is used over time and occasionally contact you about the app. They are never attached to individual events, and they are not sent to Google Analytics for Firebase.
How to turn it off. Open the Profile tab and switch off "Share usage analytics". You do not need an account to do this. Turning it off stops PostHog collecting anything further, including session recordings.
This switch does not yet cover Google Analytics for Firebase. If you want us to stop collecting Firebase analytics about your use of the app, or you want to object to that collection, contact us at steckmanninc@gmail.com or use our request form at https://oaysis.app/delete-my-account. On Android, you can also limit how your advertising identifier is used from your device's advertising settings.
Crash reporting. When the app stops working unexpectedly, we collect a crash report so we can find and fix the problem. These reports are processed by Firebase Crashlytics (Google) and include the app version and build number, your device model and operating system, and technical details of what the app was doing at the time. They do not include verse text or anything you have typed.
Where it is stored. PostHog stores this information on servers in the United States. Google Analytics for Firebase stores it on Google's servers in the United States and in other countries where Google operates.
Deleting your data. Turning analytics off does not delete information already collected. To request deletion of your data, use our request form at https://oaysis.app/delete-my-account.
